Start the Year with a Sense of Wonder and Laughter

The world is highly advanced in science and technology that we could hardly see and appreciate the small miracles of waking up in the morning. We turn to our gadgets and missed the beauty of nature. In the busyness of our daily living, we missed to experience the presence of God among the people who love and care for us.

Not with the woman in the video, a mother who never loses her sense of wonder and laughter even in the small things. A perfect example for all of us.

I am always amazed with the sense of wonder and laughter my mama have.

Thank you Lord, for the gift of mama. May I always have that sense of wonder and laughter as I advance in years.

Happy New Year!

Simple Small Things done with Love, You might Overlook

I have a friend who loves giving gifts. They’re mostly small things, like a book or a candy bar, but they let us know he’s thinking of us and cares for us. It’s usually not so much the gift itself that strikes me as it is the love I know is behind the giving.

How do you show your love to your spouse, your kid(s), your family?

Whatever it is, I honor you for that. Showing your love for your family is showing the love of Christ to His people.

As important as showing love to your family, so is receiving the love from your family also. Receiving the love from your family is receiving the love from Christ himself.

The challenge is to recognize the love in every action from each member of the family. That maybe a hug, a kind word of affirmation from your spouse. A kiss from your kid. A candy from your little child. A flower given to you from your husband. As simple as opening the door for you. Accompanying you in the grocery. Holding hands while walking. Quality time. A touch. A high five. The laughter. The ear, when you needed the most. Being there when you just wanted to cry.

May you be watchful and thankful in every opportunity of love in action.

Lord Jesus, help me to see every action of love from my family and friends from this moment on.

Nicer to other people, but harsh to my own family

The Sacrament of Marriage calls me to participate in Christ’s presence on a daily basis. It calls me to not only show Christ’s love to my husband, but it also invites me to be open to receiving Christ’s love through being loved by my husband.
-Becky Eldredge

So often, I overlook the people around me, the closest, my family, my spouse in being Christ's presence to them. I tend to be nicer to other people and sometimes harsh to my kids and wife. What's happening?

There's something lacking.

I need to be an active participant in showing Christ's presence to my wife and to my kids. I can only do this through being in a relationship with Christ.

How can I show His presence to my family, if I don't know Him personally.

My realization is to know Him personally, receive His love and forgiveness.

But, how? Ask me how?

I don't know! Maybe, I can spend time with Him like I spend time with a dear friend. What do you think?

Little boy's language of the heart

A little boy couldn't understand why his mother was crying. She couldn't explain the reason to her son, whom she felt was too young to comprehend the occurrences which made her sad. Hearing no reply from his mom, the son simply hugged his mother. The boy grasped his mother's pain beyond words. He was tuned in to the language of the heart.

7 Reasons Children Need A Good Night’s Sleep

Having a hard time getting your child to sleep? You are not alone.

Replacing electronic devices and gadgets to bedtime stories or simply talking to your kids about what they like most of the day can help.

You can also talk to your child about the importance of getting enough sleep. Below are 7 reasons children need a good night sleep and adults also.
  1. Sleep Promotes Physical Growth. Human growth hormone is released between the hours of midnight and 6am.
  2. Sleep Helps With Attention. Study presented at the SLEEP 2015 Conference found that motor planning skills - improve when the child gets more sleep.
  3. Sleep Helps The Brain Stay Organized. When we sleep our brain goes through a de-cluttering process.
  4. Sleep Is Good For Mental Health. Children who sleep well may have less issues with anxiety, depression and drug and alcohol abuse once they are adolescents and adults.
  5. Sleep Helps Kids Learn. Children who sleep well are better able to store and retrieve information as well as learn new information and use critical thinking skills to process this information.
  6. Sleep Keeps Weight Gain Under Control. When sleep is sporadic or inadequate this system goes awry which some researchers believe is in part responsible for the rise in obesity.
  7. Sleep Is Good For Immunity. Getting a good night’s sleep has been linked to a stronger immune system, mainly where colds and flu are concerned.

How to Raise Successful Kids without over Parenting

Julie Lythcott-Haims talks about parenting style nowadays that is kind of messing up kids. Hindering kids to develop into their selves.

Based on the longest longitudinal study of humans ever conducted, called the Harvard Grant Study, professional success doesn't come from a check listed childhood.

The checklisted childhood, when they come home from school, what we ask about all too often first is their homework and their grades. And they see in our faces that our approval, that our love, that their very worth, comes from A's.

Watch the video below on "How to raise successful kids without over parenting".

Young Mother and Tiny Blond Girl at the Fountain, Enjoying Detours

We are running out of time. Busyness surrounds us. Our work, our business consumed most of our time that we tend to sacrifice the most important things in life.

Our career exists for one purpose and that is to support our family.

Read the story below of a young mother with her tiny blond girl at the fountain, enjoying the detours.

Great parenting lesson. Raising positive kids.

One spring morning I paused beside a park fountain to watch the spray diffuse sunlight into shimmering rainbows. A young mother, followed by a tiny blond girl, came hurrying along the path. When the child saw the fountain, she threw her arms wide. "Mommy, wait!" she cried. "See all pretty colors!"
The mother reached for her daughter's hand. "Come on," she urged. "We'll miss out the bus!" Then, seeing the joy on the small face, she relented. "All right," she said. "There'll be another bus soon."
As she knelt with her arms around the child, joy filled the mother's face too - that rare and special joy of sharing something lovely with someone we love.
Since that day, I've found that the happiest, most observant, most creative belongs to families rich in rainbows shared.
